So, let’s see how to make these Jhat-Pat Aloo. The whole recipe with step by step description is discussed below:-
Ingredients:-
- Oil – 4-5 tbsp
- Mustard seeds / Rai – 1 tsp
- Green chilli/ Hari mirch – 2-3 chopped
- Potato/Aloo – 5-6 medium size diced
- Turmeric/ Haldi powder – 1/2 tsp
- Red chilli/ Lal mirch powder – 1 tsp
- Dry Mango/ Amchur powder – 1 tsp
- Salt – to taste
- Coriander leaves/ Dhaniya patti – chopped for garnishing
Method:-
- To make Jhat-Pat Aloo first heat the pan and add oil.
- When the oil gets heated add mustard seeds and chopped green chillies.
- Let them crackle for some time (check the flame to avoid burning) and then add diced aloo/ potatoes.
- Add turmeric powder.
- Mix well.
- Now add salt according to the taste. (Note:- adding salt helps potatoes to cook faster).
7. Again mix well and cook for about 5-6 minutes. You can also cover the lid to cook even faster.
8. After the potato/ aloo softens, add amchur powder (Note:- if you add amchur powder before the potato gets cooked, the potatoes will remain uncooked due to the tartness) and red chilli powder.
9. Mix them well and cook for another 4-5 minutes and your Jhat-Pat Aloo will be ready.
10.Garnish it with freshly chopped coriander leaves and serve it with hot-hot Daal Chawal or Puri/ Roti/ Paratha.
